Who We Are
MinnePrairie Ecoscapes designs and installs ecologically rich, low-maintenance landscapes that elevate outdoor spaces across the Twin Cities.
From prairie-inspired gardens to woodland retreats, we replace turf with custom native plantings that bring beauty, biodiversity, and resilience to your property.
Rooted in local ecology and thoughtful design, our work offers a refined alternative to traditional landscaping — one that supports pollinators, conserves water, and grows in value over time.
I'm Ezra Sterling, one of the founders of MinnePrairie Ecoscapes. With several years of experience in plant identification and landscaping, I have always had a deep connection to nature. My journey began in earnest during the pandemic when I realized the need to find a way to impact others through my work. This period of reflection and challenge led me to create MinnePrairie Ecoscapes—a venture that allows me to do work that feels impactful while bringing value to others.
Through MinnePrairie, I combine my passion for the environment with my expertise in landscaping to transform outdoor spaces into sustainable, beautiful environments. My goal is to help others connect with nature and create landscapes that not only enhance their surroundings but also contribute positively to the ecosystem.
I'm Liam Magistad, co-founder of MinnePrairie Ecoscapes. Growing up in St. Paul, I developed a love for gardening early on while helping my parents and grandparents in their garden. After graduating from Macalester College in December 2019, I co-founded a small tutoring business and a digital therapy tools company with college friends. I am passionate about ecology and climate justice, as well as housing and homelessness.
Our mission is to create landscapes that are not only beautiful but also environmentally responsible, offering spaces that reflect our clients’ values and support the ecosystem. In my free time, I enjoy camping in the BWCA and other wilderness areas, which continues to inspire my work and deepens my connection to nature.
